Now we are talking movie making!
Tom Cruise and Paula Wagner at the helm of the United Artists shingle on Harry Sloan’s MGM back lot have greenlit the Robert Redford directed film ‘Lions for Lambs.' Cruise will co-star with Redford and Meryl Streep. Screenplay by Matthew Carnahan, tells three interconnected stories: Cruise as a congressman who interacts with a journalist (Streep); Redford as a professor who tries to inspire a student and a pair of American soldiers wounded in enemy territory, one of whom is a former student of Redford (the professor). MGM is financing with production set to start early next year. MGM will distribute hopping for a Fall 2007 release. Recently, Viacom chairman Sumner Redstone very publicly severed Paramount ties with Cruise and Wagner after 'MI:3' did not perform as expected - Redstone blaming Cruise's personal behavior for box-office anemia.
