State of Play for Pitt
Oct 13, 2006, 14:12 GMT
Brad Pitt is being lined up for a movie version of hit BBC TV drama 'State of Play'.
The 'Troy' star is in talks to play journalist Cal McCaffrey in the big screen adaptation.
The programme's writer Paul Abbott - who will also produce the movie - told BBC radio show Five Live: "Someone handed me their Blackberry mobile phone and said, 'Oh, somebody wants to talk to you.' I pick it up and it's Brad Pitt on the other end.
"I just went, 'Hello', because I wasn't expecting a conversation."
The BAFTA award winning series - which starred Bill Nighy and John Simm - was about a team of journalists who are investigating the mysterious death of a political researcher.
Brad is currently filming 'A Mighty Heart' in India with his partner, Angelina Jolie.
The film focuses on the life and death of American reporter Daniel Pearl who was kidnapped and killed by Islamic extremists in Pakistan in 2002.
