Hood's Rendition to star Gyllenhaal and Witherspoon

Academy Award winner Gavin Hood (‘Tsotsi’) will direct New Line’s ‘Rendition’ staring Jake Gyllenhaal and Reese Witherspoon. Kelley Sane is responsible for screenplay.
Produced by Steve Golin under his Anonymous Content shingle, the thriller centers on a CIA analyst based in the Middle East whose world falls apart after he questions his assignment following police interrogation of a suspected terrorist.
Middle East thrillers seem to be the “flavor of the month”:
Besides New Line’s ‘Rendition’, Paramount has ‘A Mighty Heart’ lined up helmed by Michael Winterbottom starring Angelina Jolie. “Heart” is an adaptation of Mariane Pearl’s memoir of her slain journalist husband.
Another pic based on the Bernard-Henri Levy book “Who Killed Daniel Pearl?” is also in the works to be helmed by Tod Williams and star Josh Lucas.
‘Rendition’ is looking for a November start date.
