Busan, Korea - Tickets for director Daeseung Kim’s ‘Trace of Love’ the opening film for the 11th Pusan International Film Festival (PIFF) completely sold out in 2 minutes 45 seconds after online reservation for opening/closing film started at 6 pm on September 19.
This is an amazing feat considering the opening film will be shown in the largest open air theater in the world with over 5,000 seats.
This years sales broke last years record for opening film (‘Three Times’ director Hsiao Hsien Hou), which were gone in 13 minutes 40 seconds.
The record seems to imply that audiences have high expectations about Director Kim’s new film – after his previous work ‘Bungee Jumping of Their Own’ (2000)’received critical acclaim.
Over the last decade, PIFF has grown fast to become the largest film festival in Asia. This year, PIFF launches Asia Film Market, which is anticipated to be a pivotal locomotive making the festival see sustainable growth in the coming years. PIFF unveils its complete line-up of 245 films from 63 countries.
The 11th edition will showcase a total of 245 films from 63 countries, 155 of which are world, international or Asia premieres. The ratio of premieres accounts for 63.3% of the total films to be presented. Particularly, the level of world premier (64) of this year hit all-time high in PIFF history. 20 International premieres and 71 Asia premieres will screen through 10 program sections.
