Director announces National Treasure sequel
By M&C News Aug 6, 2006, 5:09 GMT
‘National Treasure’ director Jon Turteltaub is talking. Talking to the LA Daily News that is.
“We’re just about to start pre-production,” Turteltaub told the Daily News. “We’ll have Nick, Justin Bartha, Diane Kruger, Jon Voight and Harvey Keitel…everyone’s back except if they are in jail or have died.”
Production for the yet unnamed sequel will start shooting early next year.
Disney’s 2004 mystery-adventure release of ‘National Treasure’ netted $348 million worldwide.
In the original Nicholas Cage starred as an archaeologist searching for hidden treasure after discovering a treasure map hidden on the back of the Declaration of Independence.
Turteltaub said the sequel will take place in "exciting destinations within America as well as around the world. As we were shooting the first one, it kept changing, so I'm scared to commit to anything, but I wouldn't be surprised if Mount Rushmore made an appearance."
