Joaquin Phoenix has reservations

Academy Award © nominated actor Joaquin Phoenix (‘Walk the Line’) is in negotiations to star in a film adaptation of "Reservation Road," a novel by John Burnham Schwartz.
To be directed by "Hotel Rwanda" writer/director Terry George, it marks the Oscar-nominated George's first project since "Rwanda."
The film, like the novel, explores the emotional aftermath following the hit-and-run killing of a college professor's 10-year-old son, and his subsequent desperate hunt for the murderer.
George was on board to direct the Denzel Washington starrer, ‘American Gangster’ but dropped out of the project after Universal lost interest in its soaring budget.
“Road” pairing George and Phoenix does not yet have studio attached but is rumored to be financed by New York financier Dean Lovett which almost assures a studio pick-up and Oscar © consideration.

An oscar consideration will be based on Joaquin Phoenix's established acting talent, not on who is financing the film, at least in the reality of appreciation and respect of the viewing audience. I'm sure it is a different reality in 'hollywood'. Even so, the result will be the same.
