Anthony Hopkins is Leo Tolstoy in Last Station

An all star cast is about to bring Jay Parini's novel "The Last Station" to the big screen.

Michael Hoffman is set to direct Anthony Hopkins, Meryl Streep and Paul Giamatti in the historical biopic of the last years of Leo Tolstoy's (Hopkins) life.

Torn between his professed doctrine of poverty and chastity and the reality of his enormous wealth, his thirteen children, and a life of hedonism, Tolstoy makes a dramatic flight from his home.

Too ill to continue beyond the tiny rail station at Astapovo, he believes that he is dying alone, while over one hundred newspapermen camp outside awaiting hourly reports on his condition.

The film is due to begin shooting at locations in Russia in February 2007.

It is a great book! I thought it was very touching and I recomend someone to buy Jay Parini's The Last Station.I loved it because there was somthing about it that just wants me to read it over and over again. It is addicting!!

I thought it was a good book! But it was a little sad at the end when Tolstoy dies. I would read it again thoe!
