The Myth Of Web TV And The Grail Become A Reality
This Autumn will see the worlds of reality TV and internet technology combine with those of folk music and mythical history in a unique experience. Web watchers around the world will be invited to look in on and become part of a special journey around Britain that will culminate in one of the country’s most spiritual locations and one that is rumoured to be the ultimate resting place of the mythical Holy Grail.
As the voice of English folk rock band Steeleye Span and a solo artist in her own right, Maddy Prior has spent nearly forty years singing of the many myths and legends that make up the history of the British Isles. She has had a particular interest in the story of King Arthur and the Holy Grail, a subject that has reached a huge international audience through the success of the novel and film of The Da Vinci Code.
Maddy’s 2006 solo tour is set to be an outstanding and exceptional event. For the first time, she and her musicians and crew will be followed by cameras on every step of their journey, with the highlights being broadcast daily on the web. The footage will cover all aspects of the touring experience, including the personnel involved, the places visited and the characters they meet on their travels as well as exclusive live performances. It will offer the music fan unparalleled access to the behind the scenes world of one of the UK’s great musical icons.
Given that the tour will visit such historical locations as Glastonbury & Tintagel, culminating with a show at Rosslyn Chapel, the spectre of the Grail will loom large over proceedings. A series of experts will be on hand to provide answers to viewers questions on all aspects of this fascinating phenomenon, Arthur and questing in general; a chance for the public to discover the truth behind the Hollywood gloss.
Viewers will also be invited to make their own contributions to the experience by representing their own personal quests through words and visuals. All contributors displayed on the web will have their names entered into a cauldron, from which a winner will be drawn on the last night of the tour, receiving a Chalice – their own personal grail.
