If this does not show how scary the evangelical Christians can be, then I don't know what is. Here a very small minority, less than 1 million out of 64 million can succeed in imposing their wishes on the majority. They would love to do this in the US and anywhere else they exist. Much like the Muslim extremists.

Quite the contrary. The Thai government is affording similar protection to a religious *minority* that the U.S. assures. It is only in Western nations where Christians are the supposed majority (countries that enshrine free expression above freedom of religion, even when those are supposedly protected equally) that dare not censor this film. Thailand knows that, in the U.S., if such a film were made alleging such false speculation about the Buddha that had Buddhists similarly riled, it would unlikely be released 'unedited' because of the risk that it may encroach on the Buddhist’s right to exercise religion freely. Just look at the fact that U.S. publications refused to publish the Mohammad cartoons, not for fear of riot, but for protection of a minority to exercise their religion without undue interference.

Well let's look at it this way it is a work of fiction. The book is fiction and it's a movie now, so what? What is next we will need to have a disclaimer before any movie that is not based on Fact? And by the way, they are going under the assumption that the Bible is, in fact, a work of non-fiction. If this was the case as well then why didn't these Christian groups try to ban the book all together? Why is it that it only upsets them when it is on the big screen? Could it be because christian groups try to prey on those that are under educated or illiterate in their own countries? To me all of the hoopla just give more credit to the fact that the Catholics and the Christian right are all afraid that their flock might just figure out they are being fleeced.

To 'reasonable': Which was equally wrong. Free speech is free speech. Nothing is sacred in this country. Period. That’s our strength. It is specified in law that we can spout whatever nonsense we wish to spout (short of directly endangering lives, like yelling 'fire' in a theater, or divulging classified information). The current trend of self-censorship exhibited by Comedy Central (in regards to a South Park episode that was not allowed to show even a cartoon of Mohammed the Prophet), and other Media pansies is completely unacceptable, and on a personal note, offensive to all of us as Americans. At least the a good portion of the EuroTrash, socialist as they are, had the good sense to publish whatever the hell they felt like, and let the chips fall where they may. Granted if you try and deny the Holocaust in public, you go straight to jail in Germany and other countries, but hey, half-way there is better than nothing! In theory, the US is the ultimate haven of free speech and unlimited self-expression, but in practice, we sometimes fall short of the mark. Hopefully this problem will be self-correcting, and we can get back to what we do so well: poking fun at everyone. We don't discriminate in this country. Everyone gets to step up to the plate to be made fun of! :)
