Fox Searchlight films is heeding MPA topper Dan Glickman’s words when he recently said: “Anything that we can do – to give the consumers great entertainment value...is our high priority. This includes connecting with parents, teachers and the students themselves."
Fox has set up a new teen division called “Fox Atomic” with a full slate of pics to screen beginning in 2007.
Peter Rice tops the company which will produce about eight pics a year that target teen and young adult audiences.
Lawrence Grey and Jeff Arkus will move over from Fox Searchlight to take on VP of production and director of production, respectively.
According to the trades, under development are another Danny Boyle – Alex Garland – Andrew Macdonald collaboration entitled ’28 Weeks Later’, a sorority comedy written by Mindy Kalig (‘The Office’), an update of ‘Revenge of the Nerds’ which will be written by Adam Goldberg (‘The Muppets Wizard of Oz’) and produced by McG, and ‘The Comeback’, a spoof of an inspirational sports movie.
No start dates have been announced.
