Dobkin to Universal - gay, no way

Universal Pictures denies it, but the entertainment “trades” are reporting that David Dobkin has quit as director of ‘I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry’, a new laugher staring Adam Sandler and Kevin James. The movie is about two straight firefighters who pretend to be a gay married couple in order to collect government benefits.Dobkin (‘Wedding Crashers’) reportedly quit over creative differences.Studio looks to put new helmer in place shortly and begin filming in August.Meantime Tom Shadyac, Michael Bostick and Jack Giarraputo are still attached as producers while story is by Alexander Payne (‘Sideways’) and James Taylor.
