Now we kind of understand how Mia Farrow felt – Woody Allen is a two timer.
It appears he has left his once “dear’ city of New York, base for some of his, least we say Hollywood’s best work (‘Hannah and Her Sisters’, ‘New York Stories’, ‘Husbands and Wives’ – the list goes on and on).
Where has he gone? Europe, that’s where. After his first "British" film 'Match Point', the American writer-director who -more than anyone else- has made his New York City a character in his work, will remain in Europe for the time being.
'Match Point' was extremely well received in Cannes last year and is currently in cinemas across Europe.
His second British-funded feature 'Scoop', like 'Match Point', stars Scarlett Johansson. And, it is now being said that the director will make a film in Barcelona, Spain in early 2007.
Mediapro, the production outlet that will finance the film, in reports has said that Allen will not only film on locations in the city but also use (at least partially) a Spanish cast and crew.
The film will reportedly have an international cast however, the subject of the film is not yet clear and writer-director have not been attached. Allen who often plays a role in his pictures has not indicated if he would do so in the Barcelona film.
Unconfirmed rumors also have it that Allen will film a third film in London to complete his unofficial "London trilogy" before moving on to Barcelona. It is said he is also interested in filming in France.
The Big Apple isn’t going to be the same without him.
