'American Gangster' on again
By Scott Rosenberg Feb 23, 2006, 11:27 GMT
'American Gangster' is back.
Last we left this biopic of heroin kingpin Frank Lucas who, in the early 1970s became the biggest heroin dealer in Harlem with a smuggling scheme that imported the stuff out of Southeast Asia in the caskets of Vietnam soldiers, Universal Pictures looked set to give the once cancelled already movie another chance, with Terry George ("Hotel Rwanda") helming.
This time Universal looks set to greenlight the picture with Ridley Scott at the helm. Russell Crowe and Denzel Washington are to star.
However movie is not yet a "go" as Universal tries to minimalize risk by seeking to joint finance the picture or scrap it alltogether (for the second time).
