York Entertainment has re-launched it’s domestic video website (www.yorkentertainment.com) with eyes on using future-technology to distribute and market films directly to consumers.
York’s new Movie Club was designed to allow the individual consumer access to monthly discounts on new releases when purchased direct from the website. The first Movie Club promotion for 'Season of Youth' has already garnered enormous sales, and within 2 weeks topped York’s Top 10 web sales chart.
As Internet marketing paves the way for a paperless society, York has implemented the use of ultra-popular Myspace.com and created a site on their new ‘Myspace Film’ network (www.myspace.com/yorkentertainment) which features exclusive trailers, special offers and new release info. Foreseeing a pending shift in traditional DVD media dominance, York has also partnered with Cinema Now to make its hottest titles available as direct PC downloads. Also in the works is a plan to offer films in the MP4 format, which would allow instant playback on popular ‘personal media players’, such as Apples video iPod.
