Award winning Chinese auteur Zhang Yimou ('House of Flying Daggers,' 'Hero') was awarded the Orde des Arts et des Lettres (French Literature Art Award) February 10th in Beijing. This is the second time Zhang has picked up the Award from the French government.
The award recognizes outstanding achievement in the arts and literature. Zhang joins the ranks of other respected recipients like Celine Dion, Paul Anka, Diana Ross and Leonardo DiCaprio.
The Award was given out during the third annual French Film Festival in Beijing. Seven films, all with Chinese subtitles will be shown including Jean-Pierre and Luc Dardenne’s The Child, (L'Efant), winner of the Palme d'Or at Cannes last year.
