Truman Capote now has two rival films about his life being made |
Philip Seymour Hoffman is set to play Capote in the feature based on the book "Capote: A Biography" by Gerald Clarke. The story concentrates on the period when Capote was writing "In Cold Blood," his so-called "nonfiction novel" about the murder of a Kansas family, which was published in 1965.
The film is to be directed by Bennett Miller from a screenplay by Dan Futterman. Like the other movie it concentrates on Capote's relationship with Smith. Morton would play Capote's friend, "To Kill a Mockingbird" novelist Harper Lee, while Cooper would play the investigator in the "In Cold Blood" crime.
Filming is due to start in the Fall.
It is also being reported that Mark Wahlberg has dropped out of starring in rival Capote film "Every Word is True" from Warner Independent Pictures. Wahlberg was to have played Perry Smith, one of the killers whose story is was recounted in "In Cold Blood" by Capote.
Gwyneth Paltrow is starring in this one as Peggy Lee along with Sigourney Weaver, Sandra Bullock and Toby Jones.
The film follows the life of Truman Capote. Again concentrating on the relationship the author had with convicted criminals Smith and Hickock, who's crimes he described in his novel, "In Cold Blood". The two murdered a family while trying to rob them. the family had no cash so the two shot each in the face, point-blank with a shotgun.
