Da Vinci Code to open Cannes Film Festival

Los Angeles - The movie version of the ecclesiastical thriller The Da Vinci Code will open the 59th Festival de Cannes on May 17, two days before the film is released worldwide. The movie, based on Dan Brown's bestseller, is being directed by Ron Howard and stars Tom Hanks, Jean Reno, Audrey Tautou, Ian McKellen, Alfred Molina and Paul Bettany. It will be screened out of competition at Cannes, widely regarded as the world's most prestigious film festival.
