Fincher turns to Torso

David Fincher, perhaps best known as the mind behind the cult classic ‘Fight Club’, is taking on America’s most famous cop.

Variety says Fincher has signed on with Paramount to direct the movie ‘Torso’. It’s about everyone’s favorite federal agent, Elliot Ness, but after he captures Al Capone. The script picks up his story after he closes the case in Chicago and moves to Clevland, where he promises to help clean up the town. It’s then that his new city is wracked by a series of gruesome murders, known as the “torso’ murders for reasons we’re probably better off not knowing.

Ehren Kruger is set to write the film’s screenplay, based on a graphic novel by Brian Michael Bendis. Producer Don Murphy (of the upcoming live action ‘Transformers’ movie producing infamy) is part of the film’s production team along with Bill Mechanic, Todd McFarlane, and Terry Fitzgerald.

Fincher is currently wrapping up work on another serial killer thriller called ‘Zodiac’. He’s also scheduled to direct the Cate Blanchett romantic fantasy ‘Benjamin Button’.
