Is Harry Osborne Spidey's new nemesis?
By Joshua Tyler Jan 10, 2006, 15:32 GMT
James Franco is out doing the promotional rounds to pump up his soon to open new movie ‘Tristan & Isolde’. You may remember Franco as Harry Osborne from ‘Spider-Man’, and he’ll be in the third movie, possibly in an even more pivotal role.
Franco’s loose-lipped ‘Spider-Man’ co-star Kirsten Dunst it seems, has been out spilling the beans about Franco’s bigger role in the third film. She offered the following spoiler about the plot of ‘Spidey 3’ to VH1: “I think we have ... I'm going to say two and a half bad guys,” she says. “Because I think one of them is resurrected. But yeah, two and a half bad guys, I think, about in this movie.”
Wait a minute, what does that mean? We know that Venom and Sandman are all but confirmed as the villains of ‘Spider-Man 3’. Could she be referring to rumors that Franco will take up his father’s mantle and become the Goblin? VH1 asked James what the heck he thought Mary Jane was talking about while they had him cornered for ‘Tristan & Isolde’. “She probably shouldn't have said that,” he suggests. He does say that, ‘Spidey 3’ looks like it could be Harry's last hurrah. But the character definitely goes to interesting places.’
What exactly those places are he remains evasive on. But he does think that “…people will be a little bit surprised about what happens.” Franco does however admit that he was involved in some early effects tests. Unless he’s super-villaining out, you’ve got to wonder what sort of effects they’d be testing on him.
Alright all of this is pretty flimsy, but it’s good for getting your radioactive juices flowing. ‘Spider-Man 3’ is still a long way off.
