Lindsay Lohan sinks ships
By Joshua Tyler Dec 29, 2005, 17:03 GMT
Fox smells blood in the water, so they've moved Lindsay Lohan into position to sink Warner Bros. 'Poseidon'.
Variety reports that the release date for Lohan's next film 'Just My Luck' has been shifted from March 3 to May 12, the same day Warner Bros. plans to release it's remake of the classic disaster flick 'The Poseidon Adventure'. 'Just My Luck' is a comedy for young women, in the vein of 2005's 'Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants'.
But can it really compete as counter programming against a summer disaster blockbuster? Counter programming often backfires, but the $25 million budgeted 'Sisterhood' made $39 million domestically in June behind the season's big event movies. Lindsay Lohan's last movie 'Herbie: Fully Loaded', a flick targeted at even younger moviegoers, made $66 million in that same month.
'Just My Luck' is the story of a sexy, successful Manhattan girl with a lot of luck. She bumps into a down-on-his-luck guy, and swaps luck with him. Suddenly life isn't quite so easy.
