Viggo returns to swordplay
By Joshua Tyler Dec 23, 2005, 21:42 GMT

Returning king Viggo Mortensen will pick back up his sword for the most expensive film ever made in Spain. It's an epic swashbuckler and there's a good chance it's all Spanish language.
JoBlo says Viggo plays a seventeenth century swordsman for hire named Diego Alatriste in a film appropriately named 'Alatriste'. It's based on a series of Spanish novels about the heroic character by Arturo Carolta Perez-Reverte. Who knew Viggo even spoke Spanish?
The trailer for the film has appeared on the Spanish language site Las Horas Perdidadas. Luckily for us English speakers, it contains no dialogue, but rather music and swashbuckling images. It's heavily stylized and Viggo is back to looking scruffy, only this time with an outrageous mustache.

'Alatriste' opens in Spain October 27, 2006 and then in the USA December 22, 2006.
