Toronto chooses Violence
By Joshua Tyler Dec 21, 2005, 16:13 GMT
The Toronto Film Critics Association is one of the few critics organizations not to pick ‘Brokeback Mountain’ as the year’s best film. Instead, they’ve gone with a fellow Canadian by picking David Cronenberg’s ‘A History of Violence’ as 2005’s best picture.
They went on to vote along national lines by picking Cronenberg for Best Director as well, but gave most of their acting awards to ‘Capote’. Philip Seymour Hoffman was awarded for his ‘Capote’ performance along with Catherine Keener for best female supporting performance.
