Linklater sells Fast Food

Apparently, Morgan Spurlock’s American eating habits documentary ‘Super Size Me’ was so successful, it’s now spawned imitators.

The Hollywood Reporter says Fox Searchlight has just acquired the North American distribution rights to a movie called ‘Fast Food Nation’, a dramatic character study of the fast-food industry from director Richard Linklater.

The film is based on a non-fiction best seller by Eric Schlosser and it stars among others Patricia Arquette, Luis Guzman, Ethan Hawke, Greg Kinnear, Avril Lavigne, and Kris Kristofferson.

The idea behind the film, which just finished shooting in Mexico and Texas, was to examine the lives behind the facts and figures of fast-food.

Linklater’s most recent films have included the wildly successful Jack Black vehicle ‘School of Rock’, and the Academy Award nominated movie ‘Before Sunset’.
