Spurlock declares war on Republicans

Documentarian, activist, and over-eater Morgan Spurlock has just stepped up to option the rights to the bestselling book 'The Republican War on Science'. According to Variety, he plans to use the book as a jumping off point for a documentary.

The book by Chris Mooney explores the U.S. government's motivations behind their strict stances on things like stem-cell research, climate change, missile defense, and sex education. Mooney presents the idea that their approach to research is born out of a distaste for environmental and health issues in addition to a dislike of the evolution theory and abortion. In other words it's not all about religion.

"There was a time when science was respected by politicians and government officials," Spurlock says. "Today, all of that is being ignored, manipulated and used incorrectly to further political agendas. We need the real answers to the big questions." His film will try to explore that.

If his last critically acclaimed documentary 'Super-Size Me' is any judge, expect him to tackle the subject with something often ignored by other modern documentary filmmakers: facts.
