If you check http://www.markinthenews.com (dec 13 item), there's news from Twothy himself a few days before Mark talked to MTV.
He hasn't dropped completely off the face of the earth. He was in Four Brothers which Singleton directed. While Italian Job was probably one of his best movies, I think that may have had more to do with the supporting cast than Marky's acting chops.
