Blige to sing as Simone

Every singer wants to act and every actor wants to sing. Mary J. Blige is no exception. She'll make her big screen starring debut in a biopic about the high priestess of Soul Nina Simone for MTV films, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Simone, while a somewhat obscure artist today, rose to fame in the 60's with civil rights songs like "To Be Young, Gifted and Black". She gave up her career in 1974, finally ending up in Paris where she died in 2003.
The as of yet untitled movie will focus primarily on her rise to stardom early in life and her relationship with her manager Clifton Henderson.
