Foxx fights terrorism for Mann

Jamie Foxx’s time doing government service isn’t over. He beat back Saddam as a soldier in ‘Jarhead’, and now he’ll take on terrorism in ‘The Kingdom’ for Universal Pictures.

Variety says Foxx has been cast to play the leader of a group of U.S. counter-terrorism investigators sent to hunt down the bad guys behind an attack on Americans in a Middle-Eastern country. The team enlists a local police officer to help them work their way through the Arab bureaucracy, but they soon find themselves the target of terrorists.

‘The Kingdom’ is being directed by ‘Friday Night Lights’ helmer Peter Berg, and produced by ‘Collateral’s’ Michael Mann. They’ll be working from a script by Matthew Michael Carnahan when the film starts shooting this coming May.

Jamie Foxx is currently busy working on another Michael Mann pic, a movie adaptation of the series Mann created, ‘Miami Vice’. He’s also slated to star in Bill Condon’s ‘Dreamgirls’ and has been cast in yet another Michael Mann movie, ‘Damage Control’.
