Piven plays sidekick no more

After years playing second-bannana sidekick to Hollywood’s biggest super-stars, Jeremy Piven is getting his own, much deserved spotlight.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Piven is currently in talks to take the lead role in a New Line Cinema movie being produced by Robert Simonds. This is the first time he's toplined any movie. The film is written by Josh Gilbert and Michael Carnes, and was at one time called ‘Furry Vengeance’, but that title has been scrapped.
The as of yet untitled film is described as a “man vs nature” project, in which Jeremy Piven will play a smarmy, Portland real estate developer challenged by his boss to develop a pristine forest to earn a promotion. Piven’s character accepts, but gets more than he bargained for when the forest’s animal residents wreak havoc on his attempts to destroy their home.
Jeremy Piven currently stars in the popular HBO television series “Entourage”. He's also working on filming 'Smokin Aces' with Ben Affleck and Ryan Reynolds. In the past he's had supporting roles in movies like 'Old School', 'Black Hawk Down', 'Rush Hour 2', 'Grosse Point Blank', and 'Heat' to name just a few of the titles on his extensive filmography.
