Batman continues with Joker and Penguin

Speculation about a follow up to Christopher Nolan’s fairly successful Batman reboot, ‘Batman Begins’ continues to run rampant, though last we checked the film had no script and Nolan’s busy working on something else entirely. The latest rumors come from fan site Coming Book Movie. They claim they’ve got an exclusive on who the villains will be for the upcoming, as of yet non-existent sequel.

According to them, both The Joker and The Penguin will appear in the caped crusader’s next outing. But it won’t be the characters we know, love, and expect. The Joker won’t be zany, or wacky. Instead, he’ll be grim, serious, and deadly, in keeping with the muted tones set up in Nolan’s first Dark Knight flick. The Penguin on the other hand will be some sort of short, stocky, Russian arms dealer.

CBM says The Joker will play both sides against the middle in Gotham. Sometimes working against the mob (still being run by the League of Shadows) and sometimes acting against Batman.

Of course Nolan remains coy about anything having to do with another Batman movie, and a couple of weeks ago the rumor was that Two-Face, not Penguin would be the second villain in the film. Is Nolan directing it? Almost certain,ly but he refuses to confirm even that. Right now he’s busy filming the magician battle movie ‘The Prestige’ with Christian Bale and Hugh Jackman.
