Die Hard for Besson

Remember ‘Die Hard’? Bruce Willis may be getting a little too old for this shit, but that’s not going to stop him from doing it anyway. We’ve known for awhile now that a fourth installment in the ‘Die Hard’ series was in the works, and now it looks like they’re gearing up to do it.

Moviehole.net reports that casting has begun on ‘Die Hard 4.0’ over at Fox, and they’re talking about hiring a director as well. According to their insider, one of the names at the forefront of the directorial discussion is French filmmaker Luc Besson.

Most Americans remember Luc from his work on the sci-fi movie The Fifth Element, which also starred Bruce Willis. Willis and Besson have a history together, and apparently Bruce is eager to work with him again.

Another name being suggested is Florent Emilio Siri, who directed Bruce Willis earlier this year in the well done, Die Hard-esque thriller ‘Hostage’.

Apparently Fox is really pushing to get the movie done. Not because they’re interested in putting out a good movie, but because they want a profitable DVD product to ship at the end of 2006. Another testament to the overbearing power of DVD.

What sort of storyline can we expect? At one point we’d heard ‘Die Hard 4’ would take place in New Orleans, but Moviehole says New Orleans is now being taken out of the script.
