Zathura director starts his engines

Jon Favreau is set to follow up his flying house epic with a fast car movie. Let's hope gears will have more people interested than board games.

The Hollywood Reporter says that Favreau has signed a deal to re-team with his 'Zathura' partners at Columbia Pictures for the hot-rodding movie 'Johnny Zero'. The film, which Favs will both write and direct, chronicles the birth of the hot-rod movement following the end of World War II. Apparently, Jon is something of a hot-rod enthusiast, so the pic should be right up his alley.

Favreau is currently working on a movie adaptation of the classic Edgar Rice Burroughs' sci-fi/fantasy novels 'John Carter of Mars'. The Martian adventure flick is in pre-production and scheduled for release some time late in 2006. Presumably 'Johnny Zero' will be his follow up to 'Carter'. Favreau on the set of 'Zathura'
