De Niro can't get away from the mob

Robert De Niro is set for a return to the mob in Paramount Pictures' upcoming hit man with a heart of gold movie 'The Winter of Frankie Machine'.
Variety says that Bobby D will play the role of an organized crime killer who retires to become the owner/operator of a quiet bait shop. Taking a cue from 'A History of Violence', when the ex assassin discovers he's been targeted for a hit, he's forced back into the game.
The movie is being produced by De Niro and Jane Rosenthal's Tribeca Films. Don't get to excited, the movie hasn't actually been written yet. The idea is based on a book by another as-of-yet-unpublished book, in this case by Don Winslow. They have no screenwriter, only something which needs to be adapted into a script.
The book is scheduled for release some time in 2006, maybe then we'll know if the concept is worth all the cash being thrown at it.
