Dustin Hoffman knows kung fu

Not long ago we heard that DreamWorks had stumbled on an inspired piece of voice casting. Jack Black is giving voice to a Kung Fu Panda in their animated movie of the same name. Now DW has finished filling out the rest of their cast, and it's full of big names.

DreamWorks has announced that Dustin Hoffman, Lucy Liu, Jackie Chan, and Ian McShane will bring their vocal talents to the project. The movie is the story of Po the Panda, "the laziest of all the animals in the Valley of Peace. With powerful enemies at the gates, all hope has been pinned on an ancient prophesy that a hero will rise to save the day. But among all the martial arts masters who come forward, none has shown the mark of The Chosen One ... until now. When Po unwittingly shows up in the midst of the competition, the masters are shocked to see that this unmotivated panda bears the mark. Now it is up to them to turn this gentle giant into a kung fu fighter before it's too late."

Dustin Hoffman will play Po's Kung Fu master, a tough as nails teacher. Lucy Liu will voice Master Viper, another of Po's teachers. Jackie Chan will take on the role of Master Monkey, a dedicated warrior who is everything that Po is not. Lastly, Ian McShane will be the movie's villain, a snow leopard named Tai Lung.

Look for 'Kung Fu Panda' in theaters sometime way off in 2008.
