Elisabeth Shue marries Jim Carrey
By Joshua Tyler Nov 8, 2005, 18:45 GMT
Despite being nominated for an Oscar in 1996 for ‘Leaving Las Vegas’, Elisabeth Shue’s career went nearly catatonic after her starring role in 2000’s all-but-forgotten invisible man thriller ‘Hollow Man’. But this year she’s seen something of a revival. The thirty-seven year old actress has appeared in two successful, major films this year (‘Hide and Seek’ and ‘Dreamer’), and now she’s signed up for another.
According to The Hollywood Reporter Elisabeth will star opposite Jim Carrey as his character’s wife in ‘The Number 23’. Described as a psychological thriller, it’s the story of a man (played by Carrey) who becomes convinced that an obscure book called “The Number 23” is based on his life. He becomes obsessed with it, until he starts to believe the book predicts a grim future for him. This no doubt sits poorly with his wife.
Hollywood Reporter adds that Shue will also play a character in the book in addition to his wife, indicating that we’ll see a dual storyline with flashes of things happening in the book interspersed with the Carrey character’s real life.
