Zombies can't be stopped, not even by Milla Jovovich. She'll try again though, in a third installment of Paul W.S. Anderson's 'Resident Evil' franchise, based on the videogame of the same name.
The Hollywood Reporter says Anderson will write the screenplay for the third movie, and Jovovich is confirmed to be back in her zombie-killin role of Alice. The movie will be called 'Resident Evil: Afterlife' and it won't be the last in the series. They're going to use it as a springboard to launch a fourth 'Resident Evil' movie in which the fighting moves to Japan.
'Resident Evil: Afterlife' is set in a post-apocalyptic world where zombies have overrun mankind. This time the action plays out in the Nevada desert (though they'll be filming in the Australian Outback).
Combined, the first two 'Resident Evil' movies made nearly $250 million worldwide, while costing considerably less to produce. The continuing popularity of Zombie movies almost guarantees more success for the franchise, despite lackluster critical reception.
