The film also stars Julie Walters, James Cromwell and ...more
She’s gotten notoriety recently for her scandalous role in the un-released movie ‘Havoc’, and she’ll sink her teeth into a juicy role in the Oscar buzzed movie ‘Brokeback Mountain’ this fall. In case you hadn’t noticed, Anne Hathaway has grown up.
Nothing says mature actress quite like Jane Austen, and according to Empire Online she’ll not only be in an Austen movie, she’ll be playing the author herself.
The 22-year-old American actress is set to star in ‘Becoming Jane’, a biopic of the famous, definitively British author written by Kevin Hood. But Empire reports that’s it’s not a traditional biopic exactly, instead Hood’s screenplay takes a cue from ‘Finding Neverland’ and focuses on a small portion of Austen’s life that reflects the romantic tone of her novels.
The film will be based in part on a biography by Claire Tomlin, in which she hints that Austen had a torrid affair with an unknown Irishman.
Anne Hathaway first broke on the scene in 2001 as the lead in ‘The Princess Diaries’, a film which spawned on sequel. In addition to ‘Coming June’, she’s also working on ‘The Devil Wears Prada’ opposite Meryl Streep.
