Unlike Uwe Boll, Paul W.S. Anderson’s videogame to movie adaptations actually make money. So it’s no surprise that the former ‘Resident Evil’ director is doing another one. He doesn’t need a tax loophole.
Variety says that Anderson has signed up to make a feature version of the popular 80’s videogame ‘Castlevania’ for Crystal Sky Pictures. He’ll also adapt the screenplay for the film, while producing along with Impact Pictures’ Jeremy Bolt and Crystal Sky president Benedict Carver.
The original game is a spooky, action-oriented vampires and ghouls hunter. The movie will focus on the origins of vampire grandpappy Dracula and the rise of a family of vampire-slayers called the Belmont Clan. Think ‘Van-Helsing’ but without Frankenstein and decent acting.
They don’t have a cast yet, but they’re already targeting a mid-2006 release to coincide with the 20th anniversary of the videogame, first released in 1986.
