Walter Mitty loses Wilson
By Joshua Tyler Nov 1, 2005, 5:39 GMT
The Owen Wilson movie 'The Secret Life of Walter Mitty' has apparently lost all momentum. Wilson has left the project, presumably to make room for one of the half-dozen or so others already in his wheelhouse.
The Hollywood Reporter says the movie is now in turnaround, with Paramount looking for a new lead. Owen had been signed to the film, but his deal stipulated that they had only a limited amount of time to cast a female lead. Paramount has been in talks with Scarlett Johanson, but nothing was ever finalized, and so Owen is gone.
'The Secret Life of Walter Mitty' is a remake of a 1947 Danny Kaye classic about a daydreaming comic book writer with an overprotective mother. To get away from it all, Walter Mitty likes to imagine himself as an adventurous hero. He's the 40's version of a geek!
Zach Braff, who recently won the title role in 'Fletch Won' is rumored to be one of the names now up for the part.
