Girl of the moment Lindsay Lohan is abandoning her teen audience and getting serious about acting. She’ll join the cast of an indie film written and directed by Emilio Estevez called ‘Bobby’, according to Reuters.
The movie is a passion project for Estevez, and he’s been working for years to get it made. His ensemble cast is huge, and Lohan steps into a group already composed of big stars like Anthony Hopkins, Sharon Stone, Elijah Wood, and Demi Moore. New along with Lindsay Lohan are ‘The Greatest Game Ever Played’s’ Shia LaBeouf and ‘Jarhead’s’ Brian Geraghty.
‘Bobby’ is a movie set around the Bobby Kennedy assassination, as it mixes fact and fiction to chronicle the intermingled lives of a cast of characters present at the Ambassador Hotel during the 1968 tragedy.
Lohan will fit into the picture as a woman marrying the brother (Elijah Wood) of her boyfriend to keep him from being sent to Vietnam.
Lindsay’s last movie was an updating of the once popular Love Bug franchise, ‘Herbie: Fully Loaded’ for Disney. But from the looks of things, she’s now trying to move her career towards more challenging roles with smaller paychecks. ‘Bobby’ won’t be her first indie movie. She’s already signed up to appear in famed director Robert Altman’s radio station comedy ‘A Prairie Home Companion’.
