With Kevin Smith cleared out, it looks like things are moving a little faster on the upcoming new adventure of Fletch, entitled ‘Fletch Won’. MTV News is reporting that they’ve settled on a man to take up the mantle of Chevy Chase and take on the title role, and it’s no surprise. Fletch will be played by ‘Garden State’s’ Zach Braff. Braff has long been rumored as one of the frontrunners for the role that made Chevy famous, and though it’s a big challenge, Zach is ready to take over. “They're huge shoes to fill... if people see any similarities, he was a goofy guy who wasn't your stereotypical magazine poster boy, but he had the ability to be a great everyman,” he says. “If I can set out to do anything in my career, it would be to play people that the people can relate to. Those are the parts I'm most interested in doing.” Chevy starred in two ‘Fletch’ films during the 80’s. ‘Fletch’ in 1985 and ‘Fletch Lives’ in 1989. The original film is a wacky comedy about an ambitious Los Angeles journalist trying to bust a drug and murder conspiracy run by a wealthy businessman. The new movie, ‘Fletch Won’ is about a younger version of the character covering his first story. When a man Fletch is about to interview turns up dead, Fletch tries to solve the murder himself.
