Connelly out for Blood
By Joshua Tyler Oct 12, 2005, 15:40 GMT
‘Last Samurai’ director Edward Zwick’s next film ‘The Blood Diamond’ is still casting, and they may be adding in Jennifer Connelly.
The Hollywood Reporter says that Connelly is in talks to star in the film opposite sometimes Scorsese muse Leonardo DiCaprio. The Warner Bros. adventure film is the story of a farmer, a smuggler, and a businessman battling over the possession of a priceless diamond. There’s no word on which character Connelly will play, but it’s a safe bet that she won’t play the businessman.
Earlier this year Jennifer Connelly starred in the remake of a Japanese horror thriller called Dark Water. She’s just finished work on the Todd Field relationship comedy ‘Little Children’ due out in 2006.
Zwick co-wrote the ‘Blood Diamond’ script with Charles Leavitt and Marshal Herskovitz. Shooting is scheduled to begin some time next year, with locations likely in Africa.
