Daniel Craig stars as "007" James Bond, the smoothest, sexiest, most lethal agent on Her Majesty\'s Secret Service in "Casino Royale." Based on the first Bond book written by Ian Fleming, the story, which has never been told on film until now, recounts the making of the world\'s greatest secret agent. Continuing the James Bond confusion, Martin Campbell, director of the upcoming 21st Bond movie 'Casino Royale' spoke a little to the website MyMovies about the project.
Campbell contradicts many of the other rumors we've heard about the film, for instance that they have chosen an actor to James Bond and will announce him soon. Not so. "The truth of the matter is that I‘ve tested quite a lot of actors, we test them and we run some scenes," he says. "I tested some more about ten days ago and there‘s nobody in the front running." And so the long 007 casting process continues.
What about 'Casino Royale' screenwriter Paul Haggis' assertion that we'll see a younger, completely gadget free James this time around? On this Martin agrees. "There are certainly no gadgets because there aren‘t in the book and it‘ll be more realistic, more gritty." This will be a less wild, more gritty Bond adventure it seems, something that sticks closer to it's original source material than the other Bond movies. Most of the super-agent's previous screen adventures have wildly deviated from the original Ian Fleming spy novels.
It was Martin Campbell who resurrected the James Bond franchise last time. He directed 'Goldeneye', Pierce Brosnan's first time with a license to kill. Campbell looks to do it again with 'Casino Royale' and another new, revamped 007.
