Bridget Jones scared stiff
Renee Zellweger is getting into the Nakata remake biz, she's signed up to star in Hideo's new version of 'The Eye' for Paramount.
Variety reports that Hideo Nakata, who directed the original Japanese horror movie 'Ringu' on which 'The Ring' series is based, will redo the psychological horror/thriller 'The Eye'. It's the story of a girl seeing more than she wants to after regaining her vision with a cornea transplant. The original was a Thai film that grossed over $10 million dollars worldwide when it was released in 2002.
A remake has been in the works since shortly after the originals release. Tom Cruise and Paula Wagner first acquired the rights and the script has had multiple writers including Sebastian Gutierrez, Ryne Douglas Pearson, and Hillary Seitz under their oversight.
Exactly what role Zellweger will play in the film is still uncertain. She's obviously a little old to play the "girl". She's also recently committed to playing author Beatrix Potter in the film biopic 'Miss Potter'.
