From acclaimed filmmaker Christopher Nolan ("Memento," "Batman Begins"), comes a mysterious story of two magicians whose intense rivalry leads them on a life-long battle for supremacy full of obsession, deceit and jealousy with dangerous and deadly consequences. Batman versus Wolverine? Yep, and it's going to be magic
Christopher Nolan's next project isn't a followup to 'Batman Begins', it's a turn of the century magician battle. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Nolan is set to direct 'The Prestige' for Touchstone Pictures, and he's negotiating with Christian Bale and Hugh Jackman to take on starring roles as rival magicians.
The script is based on a same named novel by Christopher Priest, in which two competing London magicians' struggle to steal one another's trade secrets turns to murder. The book has been adapted into a feature film by Jonathan Nolan, Chris Nolan's brother and the man who wrote the original short story on which Christopher's first big movie 'Memento' was based.
Should they sign, Jackman and Bale will start shooting the $40 million film some time in January. Hugh Jackman is set next to appear in Darren Aronofsky's mysterious pic 'The Fountain' and he's currently busy shooting the much maligned third 'X-Men' movie. Bale can next be seen this fall in Terrence Malick's Pocahontas flick 'The New World'.
