Preston goes country

Kelly Preston's recent proclivity to play on-screen mothers continues as she joins country music star Toby Keith in the film 'Angel from Montgomery', according to Production Weekly.

Preston will play Angela Dalton, a Miami newscaster who brings her rebellious teen daughter Dixie back home to rural Tennessee, after a tragic accident takes the life of Angela's brother. Angela's homecoming leads to a reunion with Dixie's country music star father Bo, played by Toby Keith. There, Bo's music helps cure Dixie's rebellious streak while he re-woo's her mother.

The script is written by Cherie Bennett and Jeff Gottesfeld, and the movie is slated to be directed by Steven Goldman when shooting begins in Atlanta this October. Goldman is a former country music video and television director, 'Angel from Montgomery' will be his first work in feature film. Kelly Preston
