We’ve all been assuming for awhile now that genre king Joss Whedon would move on to making ‘Wonder Woman’ once he’s done promoting the heck out of the soon-to-open movie ‘Serenity’. We may have been wrong. Variety reports that Whedon’s next project will likely be the newly aquired film ‘Goner’ for Universal. It’s described as a fantasy thriller, and it’ll be written and directed by Joss. "It's the story of a young woman's journey that involves a great deal of horror and some heroics," he says. That actually sounds a lot like ‘Serenity’ doesn’t it? But he’s quick to differentiate, “It's certainly darker than 'Serenity,' and there are a lot of left turns along the way. It is something I had in mind for a while, and it just poured out of me when I finished my film." Apparently, there’s no real timeline for when he’ll get around to making ‘Wonder Woman’. In other interviews this week he revealed that one of the things that attracted him to the Amazonian project was the amount of leeway Warner Bros. was willing to give him in scheduling. According to Joss, he was offered ‘X-Men 3’ at the same time, but chose to take ‘Wonder Woman’ since ‘X3’ came with a hefty time constraint.
