Schumacher and Carrey obsess over numbers

New Line Cinema has hired former Batman director Joel Schumacher to helm the film 'The Number 23' according to The Hollywood Reporter. Jim Carrey may also be in talks to take on the film's lead role.

The movie tells the story of a man becoming obsessed with an obscure book called "The Number 23", when he begins to think it is somehow based on his own life.

Schumacher's last film was a somewhat overlooked movie version of the Broadway musical 'Phantom of the Opera', but he's best known as the man who killed Warner Bros lucrative, and recently resurrected Batman franchise with 'Batman & Robin'.

'The Number 23' is based on a script written by Fernly Phillips.
