Jack Black is a Kung Fu Panda
By Joshua Tyler Sep 21, 2005, 21:10 GMT
DreamWorks is animating Jack Black, and so of course he’ll be a Kung Fu Panda. What else?
Variety reports that the Animation division that brought you ‘Shrek’ and ‘Madagascar’ will release the Tenacious D frontman voiced, computer animated movie ‘Kung Fu Panda’ in theaters some time in 2008. The film is described as being influenced by cartoony, live-action pics like ‘Kung Fu Hustle’, so expect more than a few falling anvils. The movie will be directed jointly by John Stevenson and Mark Osborne, with a script written by Dan Harmon and Rob Schrab.
In conjunction, DreamWorks Animation has four other potential projects lined up for 2009 and beyond. ‘How to Train Your Dragon’ is the story of a Viking chief capturing a dragon, ‘Rex Havoc’ about a monster hunter battling cable TV disrupting aliens, ‘It Came From Earth’ a reverse invasion story told from the prospective of Martians being accosted by human astronauts, and ‘Route 66’ the story of a giant, roadside golf ball statue.
