Kevin Smith loves Jason Lee

Kevin Smith was out and talking to TV Guide about his upcoming sequel to 'Clerks', currently saddled with the glib title 'The Passion of the Clerks'.

He's ready to get going on the film, which he's doing instead of the 'Green Hornet' movie he was once rumored to be helming: "We start shooting Oct. 10. It's a story about what happens to the angry young man once he turns 35. We've got all the same guys from the first film." Yes, even Jason Mewes fresh from prison.

In addition, he's still keen on making a new movie version of 'Fletch', which once starred Chevy Chase. What's more, Smith revealed that he remains determined to use his muse Jason Lee as Fletch: "I'm so delighted Jason is getting the recognition he deserves. Maybe now I can make a Fletch film staring Jason — I've wanted to do that for five years."

Jason is currently busy on the new, critically acclaimed television show "My Name is Earl", and Zach Braff was once rumored to be the frontrunner for role. But Smith's connection to Lee probably means he'll be able to get him for the new Fletch movie (titled 'Fletch Won') if he really wants him.
