A few weeks ago we learned that 'Crash' writer/director Paul Haggis had been brought in to rewrite the script for the much troubled next Bond movie 'Casino Royale'. Now Haggis is in Toronto and talking to The Hollywood Reporter about the project. "We're trying to reinvent Bond" he says. "He's 28: no Q, no gadgets." This is the first confirmation we've heard that they're going for a younger James Bond. It's also finally confirmation that there's no way Pierce Brosnan will be back, despite all the will-he-wont-he back and forth that's been going on for months now after his firing. It also significantly reduces the number of potential other candidates who can play 007. People like Hugh Jackman and Clive Owen, who have long been rumored to be in consideration are right out. It seems more likely than ever now that they'll go the route of an Orlando Bloom or maybe even Tom Hardy who starred as Shinzon in the quickly forgotten last Star Trek movie 'Nemesis'. This is also bad news for John Cleese, who is already under contract as the franchises replacement "Q". Look for a less technically proficient James whenever 'Casino Royale' finally does show up in theaters.
